This year, for the first time since we've been married, it just happened to work out to where Landon and I were at home for Christmas. Because of siblings' schedules, we were with family the day before and the day after Christmas day but had absolutely no where we had to be and nothing we had to do on Christmas day. And it was just what we needed. We love living near family and love celebrating the holidays with family, but it was so nice to have a lazy day at home with our baby. We got up when he woke up around 9am, opened presents, went to church and then came home and hung out at the house all day. It was pretty near perfection. :)
Christmas morning!
Santa came and he filled all of our stockings with cool stuff.
Aedan may have been a little more excited about hanging out with the dogs than the stockings.
Santa brought Aedan a lot of cool toys to play with!
Aedan gave his daddy a baby carrier for Christmas, so he can carry him when we go places. :)
He loved the tissue paper!
a little piano from Mommy and Daddy
Why is this monkey attacking me?? Get it off! Silly Daddy. :)
He looked a little terrified by the puppy toy from Aunt Kenna and Uncle James, ha. But, he warmed up to it as the day went on.
Sweet boy.
After we all opened our presents, we quickly got dressed and headed to the Christmas service at church. I really love singing the Christmas songs so we went to real church for about 15 minutes. We were trying to make it to the sermon before heading to the cry room, but our little one had other plans. So, we met up with our friends in the cry room for the rest of the service.
On our way out, we stopped to say hi and merry Christmas to Pepaw, who was working at the welcome desk. Thanks, Pepaw, for the Christmas sweater vest!
And after church, we headed home, got back into comfy clothes and spent the rest of the day doing pretty much nothing. Aedan took a nice long nap while we listened to some Christmas music, talked to family and Landon organized the chaos of our house while I made dinner--meaning I defrosted some gumbo my mom had made--and a little bit before we sat down to eat our little munchkin woke up. And, he was all done taking pictures. I think this is just about the cutest sad face ever though--and it definitely made me put down the camera and give him some snuggles.
And then we all just relaxed on the couch. We switched from Christmas music to country music because Aedan seems to like it and then all three of us, and the dogs, took a little nap on the couch. Possibly my favorite moment of the day. Aedan never falls asleep just laying with us like that.
The rest of the day we just hung around the house. Landon hasn't had a true day off like that in longer than I can remember, so it was a welcome change of pace. About 5 minutes before Walgreens closed I ran over there to get a few things so we could eat dinner, but other than that we didn't leave the house. We ended the night by taking a few pictures of our favorite 6 month old, installing Landon's new speaker and watching How The Grinch Stole Christmas. I am so thankful for my sweet husband and baby and so grateful for the gift of Jesus.
